👋 SAY HI TO OUR TEAM TODAY
You've got your brand new business idea and you've sourced your products, set up your shop and decided on a company name, which means designing a shiny, eye-catching logo is next on the list!
However, there's nothing more disappointing than going to all of the trouble of designing and producing a logo, only to find out it won't print well and is going to look like a blurry or grainy blob on all your signage and marketing materials.
Follow these quick tips to make sure your logo will look great once your
design comes back from the printers.
There are two standard colour models: RGB and CYMK. Basically, RGB mimics colour the way a computer screen displays it, while CYMK displays colour how a printer does. CYMK is the standard for physical printing while RGB is the standard for web design, so to get the most accurate colours, make sure you send your design through with CYMK colour modelling.
While JPEG is common and easy to produce, it's not the best file format for
printing a high-quality logo. It's often difficult to produce a transparent background, and the format is prone to degrading as it's sent, received and converted across multiple transfers.
Your best option is an EPS file, which keeps your logo as a vector and protects against file degradation. It also makes it easier for the printers to edit your logo if need be.
You might think that since your logo is quite small, you can get away with a lower quality resolution. However, it's always better to aim for a higher resolution, as the printing process can require enlarging an image more than you'd expect, and this can result in a grainy or blurry logo.
There are so many other factors to consider, such as text width, drop shadows, bleeds and cut lines, and so much more! If you're looking for high-quality printing and want a level of communication and attention that's only possible with small businesses, Aldine Printers is here to help.
We've been printing in the Cairns area for 30 years, and we'd love to help you get your next printing project absolutely spot on.
